My Daytrip

I woke up this morning just knowing that today was going to be a long day.  It was very dark and dreary... raining a bit.. when I drove to work this morning. A morning conversation on the phone perked up the day a little bit, but after arriving at work, I found that the new IT guy was needing a bit of guidance. I was on a schedule and felt the time slowly ticking away. It seems that our director wasn't able to use his flash drive in his machine.  My first thought was that the security of our network was preventing it. After a bit of troubleshooting, my suspicions were confirmed.  His machine hadn't been used in months and everything was out of date... his predecessor were using laptops, so we could spend hours updating or troubleshooting.. or we could just reload an image on it.. in about 40 minutes.. then about 15 minutes worth of windows updates.. and we're as good as new.. with an image I know isn't corrupted.  He doesn't wanna do that.. he is afraid he won't be able to use things.. so.. I bid farewell and left them to work it out.. it's not my position now anyway... 

I've spent way more time doing things well beyond my scope of duties in the past 3 months.. and they just seem to want me to do more.  I'm already doing my regular job of teaching.. scheduling off center tests... providing transport of students... coaching the academic olympic team.. and still training the new IT guy.. on top of all that. One thing I will say, he is picking up most of it very quickly.  I am also going with my students to volunteer for community service...  and I find out today that there are people on the center who have been given outstanding service awards... I'm not going to beg ANYONE for an award.. but I feel I deserve it moreso that a few of the people who have received one.

So... today I am on the road to get an ID made.. a two hour trip there.. and two hours back... during which was not unpleasant.. but not pleasant enough that I would want to do it again anytime soon.  I am a good driver... I have not had an accident or any ticket in my 29 years of driving... so.. I get a bit irritated when people try to tell me how to drive... today was no exception. If she wanted to drive.. all she had to do was say so... She even said at the most busiest area.. "I'm so glad you're driving and I'm not"  ...I wanted to comment..  "You're not??  I was certain you thought you were... "

It wasn't a totally bad day... I got away from some of the center's political agenda that is going on now.  It seems people are being investigated.. and I don't want any part of that.  At least the weekend is here.. but that means tomorrow morning I have to visit my dad... I already told him I would last week.. He wants to change my oil.  I've been putting it off.. and I can put it off no longer. ...it actually does need changing now.  I am certain that after my visit tomorrow I will have more blog material. 

But for all the downside of my news, I know there are those that have it better... I am seriously hoping my vacation happens on the 21st.. if it doesn't ...I'm gonnna go stick my head in a microwave oven and let it explode.... I will make my decision in 3 days.. based on what I find out this weekend.  Let's just say there is a lot going on behind the scenes and I am very grateful for someone special trying to help to make it happen. 

...the day is over.. now the evening begins... the first thing I find out is that it's very quiet around here.. I know there are 3 people in the house.. but I don't know where they are... I guess I'll spend some time online.. looking through other's blogs.. and hoping that my evening goes better than .. my daytrip.
