I Never Want Anything Like That Again

I only work a half day today...  Spending this evening at my niece's wedding.  Her fiance was hit by a car on Tuesday while he was jogging in Louisville.. on a crosswalk.. damaged his leg, so they won't be able to spend 2 weeks in Ireland like they planned.. but he said he was going through with the wedding.. even if he had to be pushed in a wheelchair.  I want to scream to both of them.... Wait!  ...Stop!  ...Run Away!!  but maybe they'll be one of the few lucky ones that can make things work.  My dad is coming by and letting me drive up there... because he isn't sure about where it is.. and I actually know the place... I take my students testing on the same block where the church is located.

It seems as though the transition at work to the new acting director is going along decently.. he actually passed through the classroom yesterday... which center directors never do.. as they are always too busy. We are trying to put bandages on a center that's already been critically wounded.  I see several things coming along that is going to cause even more issues.. but at this point.. they're only rumors.. so I will refrain from giving them fire to spread.

I am having issues with my wired internet.. not sure why.. it might just be something as simple as a cable.. in any case... I'll work on fixing it... and see what's wrong... after all I am a computer tech guy :)  I don't get as actively involved in fixing things as I was... I am trying to focus on getting the students through my course and giving them the experience they need to be successful.  I did make a connection with a guy from Teksystems who was very interested in helping to place some of my more gifted students. I'm working to hone the professionalism in my class.. and get them ready for the real work environment.  ...but at times even that is very difficult given the background... It's almost impossible to get some people to see things until they actually have to experience those things for themselves.   It's that way with life.   I've been through experiences that I've not been even remotely prepared for, but I learn by experience.  One thing I realize is that I am much happier being away from the fake, fantasy world... because try as much as you want to justify your feelings.. and your actions... it's still something easily walked away from.. I never want anything like that again.

  1. Life really does hit u pretty hard sometimes but its needed. Its wise to promote professionalism but most cases with job corps they are already out of school and have the attention span of a taco. I am glad about the bandade.. hopefully that works better. Good luck special k.
